The Cook is in the House!!

I have always loved to cook. I wouldn't call myself a chef, where I creat delicious gastronomic pieces that delight your senses, I am basically a recipe cook, although I will take a recipe and tweak it a lot of times. I am also very meticously about coordinating side dishes to go with the main meal, making sure that everything goes well together as far as flavors and taste.

There's nothing I love more than a lousy, cold winter's day on the weekends, the kind of day where it makes you not want to go out at all. These are the kinds of days I find myself in the kitchen cooking the afternoon away. Usually, on the weeknights, suppers are quick and uncomplicated. But on the weekends, they tend to become a bit more labor intensive. Today, because it was a holiday and I had it off from work, and it was cold, windy and raw out, I spent a pleasant afternoon cooking, with my Sirius satellite tuned to one of my favorite channels and the puppers keeping me company.

First up was Banana bread:

Moist, very bananary, with a generous handful of walnuts mixed into it and finished with a streusel topping.

Luckily I had my clean up crew on hand to help clean the bowl of mashed bananas!

Sometimes I like to do theme nights. Sometimes it's Mexican, sometimes Thai, sometimes Greek. Tonight was Indian night.

I made:

Baked Falafels with a Tahini sauce

Mashed Chickpeas

Tandoori Chicken

and Naan bread (store bought, of course!)

  3. Mmm, that all looks nummy (as the furkids would say).
I love banana bread too, have you tried it with cooking apples instead?
I always end up tweaking reipes as they usually suggest something in them one of us doesn't like but thats half the fun of cooking.
That cleanup crew looks like they will leave no stone (or bowl) unturned until there isn't a crumb to be seen, lol.

  5. Yummy! Sorry I'm so late commenting on this post. I have almost 900 blog posts in my GR to get through! Yikes! But that's what happens when my family gets sick. :( I want to come over for dinner at your house! Especially when you're cooking that tandoori chicken! I may hit you up for your recipe in the near future. ;)

  6. Tiffany, any time you want the recipe, let me know!! It's really easy to make, just a lot of different spices to add to it plus greek yogurt.
